About Us

Prairie Berries Inc. is a Canadian food based company recognized in the marketplace for their production of frozen IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) Saskatoon berries, fruit toppings, pie fillings, purees, concentrates, chocolate coated Saskatoon berries and dried Saskatoon berries.

Prairie Berries Inc. started the Saskatoon business with a small 10 acre orchard in 1993, and soon recognized the potential for growth in the Saskatoon Berry Industry. In 2007, Prairie Berries Inc. invested with a strategic partner to plant a 120 acre Saskatoon Berry orchard to help maintain a consistent supply of Saskatoon berries for domestic and international markets. In addition, we have many growers across Western Canada who are valuable partners in supplying our value chain to offer this unique fruit world wide.

Prairie Berries Inc. believes that consistency in quality and food safety of our products is the key to success in both our retail and food ingredient businesses. Prairie Berries Inc. owns and operates a Canadian Federally Inspection Agency (CFIA) approved primary handling and secondary processing facilities. The primary handling plant is capable of grading, cleaning, freezing, and packaging berries. Our secondary processing facility produces delicious gourmet food retail products high in fruit content and low in sugar. Additional production capacities are fulfilled through partnerships with other larger processors.

Prairie Berries Inc. is actively involved in Saskatoon Berry product research and development to introduce new products to the market place. We are committed to provide the best quality products to our customers, by ensuring consistency in our grading standards, on Farm Food Safety programs, and processing protocols.

Awards

Prairie Berries Inc. has won two awards at the Canadian Fine Food Show in Toronto. The first award was for Saskatoon berries pie filling, for the “Best New Desert”. The second award was the “Best New Preserve”.for our Saskatoon berry fruit topping. Prairie Berries’ commitment to excellence and quality in producing a high fruit content, all natural, no preservatives product was the key to our award.

Prairie Berries Inc. has also won an award in their local community for export activity. The MJBEX Award, is given to the business demonstrating exceptional performance in exporting Saskatchewan goods and services nationally or internationally.
